The Wine Group has reached an agreement to acquire several key wine brands from Constellation Brands, including Meiomi, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, SIMI, Woodbridge, and J. Rogét. The transaction, valued at approximately $900 million, includes three production facilities and 2,670 hectares of vineyards across California.
Set to close in early 2026, the acquisition significantly expands The Wine Group's portfolio beyond its current commercial brands like Cupcake Vineyards and Franzia boxed wines. CEO John Sutton emphasized that the deal strengthens the company's premium offerings and expands its on-trade and retail presence.
Meanwhile, Constellation is strategically divesting mainstream brands following a 7% sales decline, with CEO Bill Newlands focusing on "higher-growth segments" to complement the company's beer portfolio. However, Robert Mondavi and Meiomi recently showed improved performance and increased market share.
