Ohio-based Middle West Spirits has acquired Old Elk Distillery and its related assets. Founded in 2013, Old Elk is an award-winning craft whiskey producer based in Fort Collins, Colorado, known for its innovative blending and unique “Slow Cut” proofing process.
The deal helps Middle West Spirits expand its robust presence in the craft spirits sector. Already known as one of North America’s largest independently owned distilleries, Middle West has nineteen SKUs across three categories. The acquisition will combine Old Elk’s brand momentum and blending expertise with Middle West’s robust production infrastructure and national reach.
Both companies emphasized their shared focus on quality, transparency, and customer relationships, positioning the deal as a “launchpad” for future growth and innovation. This continues a trend among small—to mid-sized spirits operators seeking to build market share by ramping up M&A activity.
