Bartenders Influence Nearly 11,000 Purchase Decisions Annually Per Venue

New research reveals bartenders in premium and luxury venues actively influence 10,976 drink decisions annually, making them critical sales representatives for beverage alcohol suppliers. With 88% of bartenders making recommendations at least once per shift, their advocacy has a significant impact on brand trial and trade-ups.

50% of consumers typically depend on a bartender's knowledge when deciding on drinks, while 52% say they're likely to purchase based on a bartender's suggestions. This influence peaks during emotion-driven visits, such as special occasions, when consumers seek memorable experiences and are willing to increase their spending.

Brand sentiment is driving these recommendations. Among bartenders with positive brand opinions, 96% recommend to customers, 95% endorse to peers, and 90% advocate for menu inclusion. Quality remains the top factor, but bar community reputation, innovation, and brand values prove equally vital.
