RTD Category Heads Toward 9% Market Share in U.S. by 2029

The global RTD market is entering a mature growth phase, led by spirit‑based cocktails and long drinks that continue to elevate the category. According to IWSR, the U.S. RTD category is expected to reach a 9% share of the total beverage alcohol sector by 2029, reflecting the ongoing premiumization that’s driving consumers to prioritize flavor, ABV, and quality perception.

Brands are focusing on more distinctive concepts such as premium spirits, nostalgic flavors, and inventive packaging. Differentiation is now essential to sustain premium pricing and stand out on crowded shelves.

Future success will depend less on speed to market and more on bar-quality experiences, clear value, and versatile brand platforms that resonate across channels as consumers and retailers become more selective.
