Off-Premise Beverage Alcohol Surges 9.5% in Latest Week
Total beverage alcohol off-premise dollar sales jumped 9.5% year-over-year to $1.21 billion in the week ending January 25, with volume up 8.3%, marking a dramatic acceleration from four-week trends, according to Circana.
Spirits led growth with 12.3% dollar gains to $219 million and a 17.6% volume increase. Wine reversed recent weakness with double-digit gains, while RTDs grew 13.1% in dollars to $170 million. Beer recorded 7.9% dollar growth to $728.3 million.
Circana EVP Scott Scanlon attributed some of the strong numbers to easier 2025 comparisons affected by California fires and southern ice storms, predicting a "slight pullback" before a Super Bowl boost.
Even after RNDC ceased operations in California, the wholesaler retained its spot as the second largest wine distributor in the U.S., thanks to the number of U.S. wineries the firm still represents.
