The U.S. on-premise showed resilience in 2023 thanks to spirits consumption, which was up 2.8% across the board, according to a report by WSWA's SipSource. The channel was aided by the performance of tequila-reposado and bourbon, which saw depletions increase by 7.2% and 4.3%, respectively.
The strong showing by spirits in the on-premise was a welcome sign after the channel lost significant momentum over the pandemic. In 2023 premixed cocktails (+6.3%), agave Spirits (+1.5%), and prosecco (+5.3%) carried forward their momentum from the last four years and demonstrated sustained growth.
The end of the year also saw improved trends in cognac during the holiday season following a period of declining sales.
